Google Android takes over Apple iOS

Android vs iOS market share

Wow, my favourite tabloid news site just decided to pass on that Gartner market research revealed that everyones favourite open mobile OS has trumped Apple’s baby, iOS and for now Nokia still remains top dog. However, Nokia’s stronghold of developing nations such as Africa is giving way to the smartphone market, and if recent events are of any consequence, it appears that the Finnish phone maker is sufficiently concerned about their piece of the pie being slowly eaten away. I’d give it less than 24 months until Google’s Android phone OS takes over the world, and to this I say…… Google is king, Google is not evil, Google doesn’t have their own agenda and iOS and Apple fanbois are the best and eating apples is good for you especially if you stroke your iPhone whilst falling asleep and humming a lullaby to it.

My morning

I was a bit bored one morning that I had free, so I thought I’d document making some breaky and coffee just for fun.

This got me thinking that I might do one of my day……one day.

Enjoy!

Download Youtube on iPhone and iOS devices (update – MiTube has been pulled)

MiTube for iOS9 to 5 Mac brought to light, that it appears that Apple has approved an app from the jailbreaking community once known as MXTube, that now takes the form of MiTube in the app store.

For some reason, perhaps due to copyright concerns, apps like these have never been approved in the App Store. For now, I’m loving being the ability to spot that cool vid on Youtube and access it later with no hassles. Get this app whilst you can.

If you like this app, donate to support it. Thanks MiTube!

Update – The inevitable has happened, and the app has been pulled. The days of legally downloading music videos (and other things iTunes puts a price on) free of charge via MiTube are over, unless you jailbreak.

It seems that the Genius bar lines have gotten too long, with all of those fanboys chewing up valuable time, when all they wanted was a friend, and here’s the solution – The Friend Bar

Night time at the train station

Wow it gets dark early these days and I just arrived at the train station to pickup my significant other and thought the view you see would make a nice or average pic (you decide) for some photo sites on the bet these days. I’m clearly still trying to figure out what appeals to people photographically, as I see something that looks like a portrait masterpiece and compared to other shots that look like drunken shots taken by a dog that happened to be chewing on the camera and those kinds of shots get nominated for awards, so go figure. I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

That said, I wonder if I’m in with a chance in the next photo comp?

State of Origin – Game 2 – live blog

State of Origin

If you’re watching the game now, I can honestly say that I’ve not seen a game this rough since….. I dunno when. These blues seem to investing a lot of their energy in raw emotion and having a punch on rather than getting the job done, and winning the effin game, and that is why I forsee Queensland as the winners of this years State of Origin, but the fat lady ain’t sung yet. Apple updates Mac Mini

Apple's Mac Mini for 2010

So what did I see this morning when doing the morning news run, but it seems that the rumours were true, and Apple quietly gave the Mac Mini a shot in the arm. It seems all the rage these days is in the mobile arena with companies one upping one another with extended battery life claims, when out of left field the big A puts the spotlight back on the desktop box. It seems whilst the mac mini was getting a much requested HDMI port, Steve and crew also took the time to refine the design complete with SD slot and easily accessible memory. Apple TV, your days are numbered.
